The CAP discusses the results of
ozone sparge feasibility testing and the evaluation of excavation, natural attenuation/enhanced
bioremediation, dual phase extraction, ozone sparging, and combination of groundwater and soil
vapor extraction as remedial alternatives. STTC recommends air ozone sparging in the A water
bearing zone and natural attenuation for the B, C, and D water bearing zones. The CAP includes
plans for installation of 49 ozone sparge wells at the site to prevent off-site migration and 10
ozone sparge wells at the Tesoro terminal for remediation of pollution in that area.
We have the following comments on the reports:
1. The CAP provides analytical results from the ozone sparge feasibility testing, but does
not explain the significance of the testing or the results for bromate, bromide, and total
organic carbon. STTC must include this information.
California Environmental Protection Agency
co Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
