The workplan is dated
15 May 1997 and was submitted on behalf of the Stockton TerminalsTechnical Committee (STTC).
The two water supply wells proposed for decommissioning are designated 8112 and 17A1. The reason
for the decommissioning is the concern that these deep, old wells are no longer used, and may provide
conduits for contaminant migration into the deeper water bearing zones.
Staff understands that the wells will be perforated from base to top of casing at three-foot intervals, and
will be pressure grouted in accordance with San Joaquin County regulations and the latest version of
California Well Standards (California Department of Water Resources Bulletins 74-90 and 74-81). A
permit for this activity will be required from San Joaquin County Public Health Services.
Please inform staff at least two days in advance when the work is to be performed. If you have any
questions,please call me at(916)255-3119.
AIL /
WIGGETT, C.E.G.
Associate Engineering Geologist
Aboveground Storage Tanks Program
GJW:gw
cc: San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Alexander Krygsman, Port of Stockton.
