Our comments are presented below.
The 19 June letter transmitted a revised project schedule, map, and sampling protocol .
Procedures are missing for correcting ground water elevations when free phase petroleum
product (FPPP) is detected on the ground water table. These procedures should be added to
the discussion on ground water elevation measurements on page 3 of the section entitled
Ground Water Sampling and Analysis. Monthly status reports are due on the 15t day
following the reporting month. The monthly report shall include the status of the pollu-
tion definition investigation, including most recent sampling results available, and
status of any other actions proposed or underway that may impact any phase of the
investigation.
The 1 July letter stated that a sheen of FPPP was detected at three sampling locations,
but that no measurable thickness of FPPP was detected in any of them. Due to the absence
of FPPP, we concur that implementation of an interim FPPP remediation system is not
necessary at this time. However, should monitoring indicate the presence of measurable
FPPP, interim FPPP recovery via bailing or pumping must be initiated.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5650.
PHILIFY S.
