The well casing elevation and the <br /> ground surface elevation will be obtained. The surveying will be <br /> performed by a California State Certified Land Surveyor under subcontract <br /> to Hart Crowser. <br /> The newly installed monitoring well will be sampled on a quarterly basis <br /> by an outside consultant subcontracted to SFPP. <br /> Task 3 - Preparation of Technical Memorandum <br /> Following the completion of Tasks 1 and 2, a technical memorandum <br /> presenting the findings of these tasks will be prepared. The memorandum <br /> will include descriptions and methodologies of work performed and <br /> summaries of soil analytical results. A final version of the memorandum <br /> will be prepared incorporating SFPP comments and will then be submitted <br /> to the RWQCB for review. <br /> Task 4 -Field Treatability Study <br /> Prior to the preparation of the RAP (Task 5), Hart Crowser will conduct a <br /> field treatability study to evaluate the feasibility of in situ bio-remediation. <br /> Based on the data previously acquired regarding the site soil type and <br /> conditions, the soil vapor extraction in combination with in situ <br /> bioremediation (bioventing) appears to be an appropriate soil remedial <br /> technology for this site. Hart Crowser proposes to conduct an in situ <br /> respirometry test to empirically determine the activity of the microbial <br /> community. Respirometry provides a direct field assessment of the <br /> potential for bioventing as a remediation technology. <br /> The in situ respiration test consists of ventilating the soil in the vadose <br /> zone with air and subsequently, monitoring the depletion of oxygen and <br /> the production of carbon dioxide over time after the ventilation has <br /> ceased. Air is injected at a predetermined rate for 24 hours to provide <br /> oxygen to the soil. After the air is turned off, oxygen, carbon dioxide and <br /> volatile petroleum hydrocarbons are measured periodically from soil gas <br /> monitoring points. The respiration test generally takes four to five days. <br /> We are assuming that the respirometry test will be conducted at well M-1 <br /> with temporary monitoring probes installed around it. <br />
