This work plan has been prepared on behalf of Shell Oil
Products Company as requested by the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health
Services.
SCOPE OF WORK
The purpose of this work plan is to provide a description of abandonment procedures for
Well DW-1. This well is located near Navy Drive in the southern portion of the site
(Figure 1). Currently, groundwater is approximately 11 feet below ground surface (bgs).
The well is screened to a total depth of 55 feet bgs. The boring log with well
construction detail, and site safety plan are presented as Attachment A. The well
destruction permit application is presented as Attachment B.
WELL DESTRUCTION PROCEDURES
The monitoring well will be destroyed using a method tentatively approved by the
Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region during a phone
conversation with PACIFIC on October 27, 1995. The well casing will be perforated
• throughout the screened section to ensure complete infiltration of the filter pack with
grout. The grout will consist of a mixture of neat cement and 5-percent bentonite. The
well casing will be backfilled with grout through a tremie pipe beginning at the bottom of
2025 Gateway.Place, Suite 440, San Jose,California 95110 (408)441-7500 FAX (408) 441-7539
