Box 4848
Anaheim, California 92803
Attention: Mr. Chuck Kolesar
Dear Chuck:
Schedule for Implementation of Plume Characterization Work
and Proposed Location of Deep Monitoring Well
Shell Oil Distribution Plant
Stockton, California
In response to Regional Water Quality Control Board requests, Harding Lawson Associates(HLA)
has prepared this schedule for implementation of the offsite plume characterization hydropunch and
well installation program at the Shell Oil Company Distribution Facility, 3515 Navy Drive, Rough and
Ready Island, Stockton, California. As described in the Plume Characterization Work Plan(IILA,
1992), the proposed scope of work involves collection of 12 to 15 offsite hydropunch groundwater
samples followed by installation of up to 4 offsite monitoring wells. We are tentatively scheduled to
begin the hydropunch work during the week of February 22, 1993. In addition, a deep groundwater
monitoring well(DW-1)will be installed onsite, near new shallow groundwater extraction well MW-24
(Plate 1). It is anticipated that the hydropunch and monitoring well installation program will take
approximately 2 to 3 work weeks. Following installation, the wells will be developed and sampled
during March or April 1993. After receipt of the analytical well sample results, a short letter report
will be prepared documenting the collection and analysis of the hydropunch samples and installation
and sampling of the new wells.
Please call me at(415) 899-7367 if you have any questions.
Very Truly Yours,
HARDING LAAWSON ASSOCIATES
Daniraig
Senior Hydrogeologlst
djc/plmached
Attachment: Plate 1 -Locations of Proposed Groundwater Monitoring Wells and Hydropunch
Samples
Reference Cited: HLA, 1992.
