SGI TH
er SOURCE GROUP INC.
Wceyar)
MAY ?005
May 18, 2005 Ehq R0'R-tENT HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
304 E. Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor
Stockton, CA 95202-2708
Subject: Soil Boring Installation for Drinking Water Quality Assessment
17023 E. Milgeo Avenue, Ripon, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
The Source Group Inc. (The Source Group), at the behest of The City of Ripon, has prepared
this work plan for the collection of groundwater quality data near the Rankin property residential
supply well located at 17023 E. Milgeo Avenue in Ripon, California (see Figure 1). The goal of
the assessment is to ascertain the potential effects of pumping City of Ripon Well 14 on water
quality in neighboring residential water supply wells. The purpose of the data collection and
assessment is to evaluate new information and a point of uncertainty that was raised at a May
5, 2005 meeting between the City, neighboring well owners, and the State Water Board.
SCOPE OF WORK
Groundwater quality data will be collected from near the Rankin residential water supply well
and between the Rankin and Azevedo residential water supply wells. The work included under
each task is described in further detail below.
Data will be collected from two borings (SB-01 and SB-02) located near the Rankin residential
water supply well (see Figure 2) in order to evaluate changes in nitrate concentrations with
distance from the well. The preliminary locations are:
• Approximately 20 feet away from the Rankin residential water well (boring SB-01).
• Approximately 250 feet away from the Rankin residential water well along the dirt road
between the Rankin and Azevedo properties such that the boring is also located
approximately 250 feet away from the Azevedo residential water well (boring SB-02).
A hollow-stem auger drill rig will be used in combination with Hydropunch and split-spoon
sampling equipment. Groundwater and soil samples will be taken from six depths in each
boring (approximately 100, 120, 140, 160, 180 and 200 feet below ground surface). These
depths span the gravel packed interval of the Rankin residential water supply well (110 to 185
3451-C Vincent Road Telephone: (925) 944-2856 XJ—
Pleasant
TPleasant Hill, California 94523 Facsimile: (925) 944-2859
Well Permit Letter
