Determine the depth to the first greundwater bearing aquifer in each monitoring well.
I. b. Determine rhe flaw dJ4=ti0a in the uppermost rroundwatcr aquifer.
c. Determine the aquifers opgradient and downgradient physical and chemical
characteristics benostth the&sposat fields.
d. Collect onulytical samples that are rePrrcentadve of the uppwmnost aquifer and frC.e of fnc.
tnartearlaLi from the aquifer formation.
Using the above as a guide W my review the following comments have been prepnre-d of the•
proposed wurkplan:
I. The Grtoundwvrer Monitoring Workplan is recommending two existing production wells
and two new momtnnng wells be Constructed fur Franzia's groundwater monitoring
system. The two now monimr'NLVXils will be completed in rhe firs +trfier There
were no constinctaoaJiii p nvided on the existing irrigation production wells.
Constructiou details will bo needed of the existing production webs in order to determine
what zones the wells:are screened acrosa and whether they will adcgtkltely monitor the
yltallow aquifer.
2. If the inigatithn production wells arc screened through several zones including the deeper
aquifier(s) then large variations in groundwater elevations may be measured. Even if the
existing production w0s are not in use, they may be influenced by Other production
wells its the area that are operating. 'Ilurefore,it is recommend that the production wells
be used only as additional information wells.
3. In order to detennine the direction of groundwater flow in tk shallow arluifer,at least
one additional new monitoring well(two already proposed plus one additional for a total
of three)should be constmcted to meesure the shallow zone groundwater. Recommend
the addlttonal well be placed south of the winely plant and alung the west side of the
property.
