File No 20-394I-01 E01 KLEINFELDER <br /> Apn12, 1997 <br /> 4 ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED <br /> 4.1 Pre-Ficld Activities <br /> Encroachment Permits were obtained from the City of Escalon prior to commencement of the <br /> ' field activities A copy of the Encroachment Permit is Included in Appendix D None of the field <br /> activities associated with this Investigation were performed in Caltrans' Right-of-Way <br /> ' Approved Right of Entry Agreements were obtained by the City of Escalon for the borings not <br /> advanced on City of Escalon property <br /> Approval of the scope of work was secured from Mr Sayed Ali of Caltrans In a letter dated <br /> March 10, 1997, and a follow-up telephone conversation with Mr Dale Steele of Caltrans on <br /> ' March 11, 1997 <br /> Approved Boring Permits were obtained from PHS/EHD prior to initiating the field activities <br /> All of the Right of Entry Agreements, Encroachment Permits and PHS/EHD Bonn Permits were <br /> g g <br /> approved and possessed by Kleinfelder prior to mobilization of the drilling equipment to the <br /> ' project site Additionally, prior to the field activities, Kleinfelder prepared a limited health and <br /> safety plan for field work proposed <br /> ' 4.2 Drillingand Soil Sampling <br /> ' A total of three soil borings were drilled at the EZ-Gas Mini Mart One (1) boring was drilled at <br /> the ARCO Gas Mint Mart Each of the borings were placed in relatively close proximity to <br /> suspected underground storage tanks (see Plates 2 and 3) Three(3)of the bonngs were advanced <br /> at the EZ-Gas Mini Mart One of the borings was advanced at the ARCO Gas Mint Mart All <br /> four borings were advanced to a depth of approximately 50-feet below surface grade(bsg) <br /> ' The soil borings were advanced using a truck-mounted drill ng egtnPPS with 6-Inch diameter <br /> hollow stem augers Soil samples were collected begmning at a depth of 15 feet, 5 feet and <br /> every 5 feet thereafter for logging purposes and potential chemical analysis The bonngs were <br /> dnlled, logged, and sampled according to the protocol described in Attachment B Lithologic <br /> classification were based on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) The soil samples <br /> collected were field screened using an organic vapor detector as described In Attachment B, <br /> Section B-2 2 The OVA measures ionizable compounds in air in parts per million by volume <br /> (ppmv) The borings were advanced to approximately 50 feet bsg Groundwater was not <br /> encountered Groundwater is anticipated to be present at approximately 65 feet bsg <br /> 10-3941-111 E01,,2017R005 Page 6 of 11 01997 Kleinfelder Inc <br />
