i 1 <br /> File Na 20-3941-01 E01 h'q KEEINFELDER <br /> August 20, 1996 <br /> tanks and plumbing Removal of the underground storage tank system and dispensers will <br /> require permitting through PHS/EHD Additionally, a qualified hazardous materials <br /> contractor will be necessary for the excavation, removal, transportation, etc Soil <br /> sampling by a firm such as Kleinfelder will be required under the permit <br /> 9 Borings B-16, B-17 and B-18 were advanced on the True Value Hardware site All three <br /> borings contained trace levels of TPH-Lubricating Oil or TPH-UEH Boring B-18 had a <br /> non-detectable sample beneath the sample that contained I 1 mg/kg TPH-UEH <br /> Kleintelder does not recommend any further investigation or clean-up as it relates to the <br /> concentrations noted in the samples from these 3 borings <br /> 10 Borings B-19 and B-20 were advanced on the Wright's Petroleum property No <br /> contaminants were noted In the samples analyzed <br /> 11 Boring B-20 was advanced on the Franco's Restaurant property A concentration of 230 <br /> mg/kg TPH-Lubricating Gil was detected in the sample obtained from a depth of 5 feet <br /> That concentration attenuated to non-detectable levels by a depth of 10 feet The source of <br /> the hydrocarbons Is unknown However, the source may be old fill material that contained <br /> some oils Kleinfelder would recommend no further investigation unless a source such as <br /> a former tank was known to have existed on site <br /> 12 Boring B-23 was advanced in the right-of-way in front of Pacoast Chemical No <br /> contaminants were detected in any of the samples analyzed from this boring <br /> 13 Borings B-22 and 11-24 were advanced on the former Matt's Texaco site Field screening <br /> using the PID indicated that significant concentrations were detected in both borings <br /> The highest PID readings were in the 15 foot to 30 foot zone in both borings especially <br /> in boring B-24 Soil samples obtained were screened In the field, and the PID readings <br /> were recorded on the boring logs PID readings ranged from 0 7 to 1,588 ppmv <br /> Hydrocarbon odors were present in almost all one-half of the soil samples obtained from <br /> these 2 borings <br /> The results of the chemical analysis conducted on selected soil samples were much <br /> lower than the PID readings In fact, the results were primarily non-detect except for a <br /> concentration of 820 mg/kg TPH-Gas at 21 5 feet in Boring B-24 However, samples <br /> obtained at depths of 6 feet and 26 5 feet in the same boring were non-detect for TPH- <br />, � Gas <br /> 20-3941-01 E011MR960163 Page 3 of 21 01996 Kleinfelder,Inc <br />
