TEN YEARS? I am wondering if this
is an error on the RECORD's part or if the problem existed and was known about for four years
before I saw water being flushed down the drain on Gettysburg Place. The article goes onto state,"A
tentative settlement, reached in federal court in Sacramento, would appear to resolve years of legal
wrangling between Lincoln Center and the three cleaning establishments......."
I wrote to your office on June 14, 1994,stating my concern that those of us in the immediate
vicinity of Lincoln Center have not been adequately informed. Were w e adversely affected by the
contaminated water? How does the"plume of contaminated groundwater"spread? Could the soil
on ourproperties have also been contaminated? Would the cleaning establishments be responsibile
for damages to us as well?
An earlier public notice invited comments from anyone affected by this problem. If a tentative
settlement has already been reached, did my June 14th letter have any effect?
I would appreciate hearing from you so that I know my voice has been heard
Sincerely yours,
Carol van Bronkhorst
