Volatile contaminants
in the groundwater are transferred into that air and carried into the vadose zone where the air is captured
by the soil vapor extraction system. To investigate the feasibility of using air sparging at the site,
LCERT proposes to install two 2-inch diameter wells for the purpose of air injection and monitoring. A
mobile/temporary air sparge system will be brought to site and air will be injected for approximately 8
hours. A helium tracer test will also be performed. Vapor concentrations will be measured before,
during and after the testing. Groundwater concentrations will be measured in several wells before and
after the testing. Regional Board staff concurs with the plan and we look forward to reviewing the
testing results.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 255-3412, or by email at
austind@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
J!
