The following equipment is specified <br /> as the minimum PPE required to conduct activities at the Site: <br /> 1. Work uniform (work shirt and long pants). <br /> 2. Steel-toed boots or safety shoes. ' <br /> 3. American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-approved safety glasses fitted with <br /> side shields. <br /> 4. ANSI-approved hard hat (note: metal hard hats are not permitted when working <br /> near sources of high electrical energy). <br /> Other forms of personal protection shall be maintained on site readily available for use, <br /> if necessary, including: <br /> 1. Sturdy work gloves. <br /> 2. Hearing protection in the form of plugs or muffs. <br /> 3. Chemical-resistant gloves (nitrile) for sample collection activities or when contact <br /> with chemically impacted soils or groundwater is anticipated. <br /> 4. Chemical-resistant clothing (Tyvek or polycoated Tyvek) when contact with <br /> chemically impacted soils or groundwater is anticipated. <br /> 7.2.2 Level C Personal Protective Equipment <br /> If air monitoring indicates that the site-specific action levels defined in Section 8.3 are <br /> exceeded, workers in the affected area(s) will upgrade PPE to Level C. In addition to <br /> the protective equipment specified for Level D, Level C also includes the following: <br /> 1. NIOSH/Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)-approved half-face APR <br /> equipped with organic vapor filter cartridges. <br /> 2. Chemical-resistant clothing (Tyvek or polycoated Tyvek). <br /> 3. Nitrile outer gloves and latex or nitrile surgical inner gloves. <br /> 4. Chemical-resistant boot covers (or chemical resistant knee-high boots with steel <br /> toes and shank in lieu of safety boots and covers) when direct contact with <br /> chemically impacted soils or groundwater is anticipated. <br /> 5.
