16.e %.w
Honeybaked Ham Company, Inc. June 14, 1994
Project No. 200439-02
research has also revealed that the subject site is located in the immediate vicinity of a plume
of chlorinated solvent contaminated groundwater. This plume reportedly originated at the
Lincoln Center (shopping center) Iocated directly west of the site, across Pacific Avenue. A
representative of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
(RWQCBCV), indicated that definition of the horizontal and vertical extent of this plume is
incomplete and that the responsible party will be requested to perform additional work to
fully define the extent of the plume.
Based on the findings of our preliminary research,we recommended to HBHC that a limited
subsurface evaluation of soil and groundwater at the subject site be performed. At the
direction of HBHC and in accordance with SJCEHD requirements, we have prepared this
work plan. The work plan includes the following scope of services which are based on our
research completed to date.
Scope of Services
Ninyo & Moore's proposed scope of work includes the following:
• Obtain the appropriate permits from SjCEHD to perform the proposed work(see
attached SjCEHD Application Package).
• Perform a subsurface geophysical survey to clear two selected sampling locations
of subsurface interferences. Sampling locations, shown on Figure 1, attached,
were selected based on proximity to areas of concern in the site vicinity.
• Collect two soil and one in-situ groundwater sample from each of the two
sampling locations using the Stratoprobe Sampling System (Stratoprobe) of
Transglobal Environmental Geochemistry (TEG) of Sacramento, California. The
Stratoprobe operates in a manner similar to a soil vapor probe. A 1.5-inch
diameter, hollow, stainless steel rod is hydraulically driven into the subsurface.
Relatively undisturbed soil, and in-situ groundwater samples are collected from
the probe tip at the selected depth intervals. Collection of soil and groundwater
samples with the Stratoprobe will not produce waste material or leave any
structures in the ground.
Soil samples will be collected from depths of approximately 10 and 40 feet below
surface grade (bsg) at each of the two sampling locations. Soil samples will be
collected by driving pre-cleaned brass tubes into the soil. Groundwater is
reportedly located approximately 45 feet bsg in the site vicinity. Groundwater
samples will be collected with a stainless steel bailer and placed, with no visible
2 vins®&MOUr,
