THRIFTY OIL CO.
June 19, 1994
Mr. Mike Infurna
San Joaquin County
Public Health Division
Environmental Health Division
445 N. San Joaquin Street
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, Ca 95201
RE: nufty Oil Co. Station #172
7647 Pacific Ave.
Stockton, California
TRANSMITTAL OF ADDITIONAL SITE INVESTIGATION
Dear Mr. Infurna,
Please find the enclosed "Site Assessment Report, Thrifty Oil Co. Station #172, 7647 Pacific
Ave., Stockton, California", dated June 13, 1994. The report includes a brief description of
OPW vault Investigation to determine if the vault was a fill ring to an unknown tank or simply
a sewer clean-out. As reported, a hole was excavated adjacent to the OPW vault and about 3
feet below grade, a cast iron pipe was encountered that appeared to be a sewer line. This pipe
was broken and inspected, but, it could not be shown conclusively that it was a sewer line.
Within a few weeks after the investigation, the site occupant, BP Petroleum, complained of a
sewer back-up. A contractor BZ Equipment was called to the site and determined that the leak
in the sewer was a result of the previous investigative work. The sewer line was repaired BZ
Equipment and there have been no more complaints regarding the sewer backup.
If you have any questions, please contact me or Mr. Karl Kerner at (310) 923-9876.
Very truly yours,
c
eter D'Amico
Manager O
Environmental Affairs JUN 2 7 1994
PD
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
cc: Ms. Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
PERMIT/SERVICES
Mr. Peter DeSantis, BP Oil Co.
QO
10000 Lakewood Boulevard, Downey, CA 90240-4082 • (310) 923-9876
