SJCEHD understands your concern since these analytes have not been detected in
the ground water for greater than three years, but offers the following for your consideration.
SJCEHD is unaware of which oxygenate additive is in Thrifty Oil Company (TOC) gasoline now
that MtBE has been removed from use. Once you inform SJCEHD of which alcohol is being
added to TOC gasoline, the reduction of certain analytes may be approved. Until that decision
is made, please continue to analyze the samples from the wells as previously directed.
SJCEHD has discovered that you are not analyzing the samples from the monitoring wells for
lead scavengers. TOC/TOSCO is to analyze all of the samples from all the monitoring, vapor
and extraction wells for 1,2-DCA, EDB, and soluble lead starting 3'd Quarter, 2004. SJCEHD
will evaluate the data after a full annual period of sampling and determine which wells may have
this sample analysis requirement modified or removed.
You may contact Michael Infurna at 1209) 463-3454 dining normal working hours snouid you
have any questions or wish to make an appointment.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Michael J.
