Marianne Snell
Charles DeVries
Page 2
If soil contamination exists at depths that prohibit excavation or if the groundwater has been impacted, a soil
evaluation will have to be made, and this site could be referred to CVRWQCB for a groundwater investigation.
If no soil or groundwater contamination is detected during this phase, only the existing soil at B4 will have to be
removed and the sidewall samples taken. If the soil analyses indicate that all of the Chlordane, 4,4-DDT, TPH-
D, and O&G have been successfully removed, PHS-EHD and CVRWQCB will be able to certify this site's
closure.
In order to continue with your investigation, a workplan should be submitted to PHS-EHD addressing the
procedures required to gather the soil and groundwater samples and remove the contaminated soil at boring B4.
A valid AHS-EHD permit for hand augers only is still valid for Victor Cherven, RG. If a drilling contractor (C-
57) is proposed, you will need to submit a completed boring permit application along with an $89 fee in order to
drill onsite.
Please address all your submittals or any questions you may have to Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
1
Michael Infuma, Senior REHS Diane M.
