(ERI) for the above-referenced site on your behalf. The comments were <br /> submitted in response to EHD's letter dated October 8, 2009, regarding proposals <br /> submitted by ERI in Work Plan for Soil Vapor Assessment, dated June 25, 2009, and <br /> Work Plan for Well Installation, dated September 11, 2009. <br /> The EHD concurs with ERI's responses as summarized below: <br /> • Soil gas samples will be collected at approximately five feet below surface grade <br /> (bsg) and the collection of soil gas samples at fifteen feet bsg will be omitted. <br /> • The location of soil vapor sampling (SVS) well SW will be relocated to between <br /> borings B4 and P2 as illustrated on Plate 1 (Generalized Site Plan). <br /> • If vapor-phase hydrocarbons are detected in soil gas samples collected from SV3 <br /> at concentrations that exceed the Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) or <br /> California Human Health Screening Levels (CHHSLs), then the EHD may <br /> reconsider collecting soil gas samples at ERI's originally proposed location for <br /> SV4. <br /> • Soil gas samples will not be collected at ERI's originally proposed location for SV5 <br /> since the location is distant from the source area. If vapor-phase hydrocarbon <br /> concentrations are detected in soil gas samples collected from SV3 and/or SV4 <br /> that exceed the ESLs or CHHSLs, then the EHD may reconsider collecting soil gas <br /> samples at ERI'S originally proposed location for SV5. <br /> • Soil gas samples will be collected at ERI'S originally proposed location for SV6; <br /> however, the SVS well has been renamed SV5, as illustrated on Plate 1 <br /> (Generalized Site Plan). <br />
