• Soil samples collected from, SV1 .through SV5 will not be analyzed for total'
petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel. (TPHd) since diesel is not a
compound of concerrat"this site.
If vapor-phase hydrocarbon concentrations indicate that a model of the transport of
the vapor-phase hydrocarbons is necessary , then select soil samples collected in
Shelby tubes from boreholes SV1 through SV5 will be analyzed for physical
properties: moisture content, dry bulk density, grain density, total porosity, air-filled
Porosity, water-filled porosity,!effective and specific permeability to air, effective
porosity, specific permeability . to water, hydraulic . conductivity, intrinsic
f permeability, particle size distribution, and total organic carbon and fraction organic
t carbon.
• Select soil samples, if collected from SVl Ahrough SV5, will be analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH)"quantified as gasoline (TPH-g); benzene, toluene„
ethylbenzene, and total.xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), di-isopropyl ether
(DIPS), "tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dichoroethane (1,2-DCA), and
1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) since the laboratory analytical cost for this project is
based on the analytical method and not the selected analytes reported by the
laboratory.
• Soil gas samples collected in Summa`M canisters will be analyzed for full-scan
-volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by method TO-15; these include but are not
limited to BTEX, .MTBE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, DIPE 1,2-DCA, EDB, naphthalene,
and 1,1-diflouroethane (leak detection compound); TPH-g by method TO-3 or
TO-15; and oxygen, carbon dioxide, and methane by American Society of Testing
and Materials (ASTM) method 1946.
• During the installation of monitoring wells MW8 through MW10, soil will be
continuously collected from approximately 60 to 90 feet bsg in boreholes MW8 and
MW10, and approximately 120 to 138 feet bsg.in borehole. MW9.
• Groundwater samples will be collected quarterly for one year from the newly
installed wells (MW-8 through'MW-10) and analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE,
ETBE, TAME, TBA, DIPE,1,2-DCA, EDB, and ethanol.
. . Soil samples collected from boreholes MW8 through MW-10 will be analyzed for
TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, DIPE 1,2-DCA, EDB, and ethanol.
The EHD is extending the date for completing the fieldwork that includes installing five
SVS wells and collecting soil vapor samples; and installing .three on- and off-site
monitoring wells from January 13, 2010, to February 15, 2010, as requested by Tracy
Loutsch of ERI on December 8, 2009. Submit the encroachment permit, boring permit
applications for each parcel involved, and permit fees of$89 per parcel to the EHD. If you
have any questions, please contact Vicki McCartney by telephone at (209) 468-9852 or by
email at vmccartneyir sicehd.com.
