Soil over-excavation was performed as described in the work
I plan dated December 19, 2005, which was approved by SJCEHD in a letter dated December 22, 2005
L (Attachment A).
SITE BACKGROUND
The site is located at 6100 North Highway 99 in Stockton, California (Figure 1). The site is a recently
I closed ARCO service station and AM/PM mini-mart. The site is bounded by orchards to the north, east,
L and south, and by Highway 99 to the west. As part of divestment activities, all USTs, dispensers, and
associated piping were removed on December 29,2005.
LUST Removal Activities
Removal of three gasoline USTs, gasoline dispensers, and associated piping was performed by Paradiso
Mechanical, Inc., of San Leandro, California, on December 29, 2005. The USTs consisted of three
12,000-gallon-capacity double-walled, fiberglass tanks. The excavated USTs appeared to be in good
condition, with no apparent holes or cracks observed during the removal. However, stained soil and a
L strong petroleum odor were observed in the southeast corner of the UST excavation and beneath two of
the dispensers. The removed USTs and product piping were transported by Al Thomas Trucking to
Vasco Road Landfill in Livermore, California, for proper disposal (Attachment B). Excavation and
L sampling activities were observed and approved by Ms. Michelle Le and Ms. Lori Duncan of the
SJCEHD.
L
URS Corporation
Crown Corporate Center
2870 Gateway Oaks Drive,Suite 150
Sacramento,CA 95833
Tel:916.679.2000 KAWprocew\15 BP ARCO\00595\05 UST Removal\UST Removal Rpcdoc
Fax:916.679.2900
L
