The RWQCB
has requested further investigation. and delineation of the petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination reported in soil samples from boring EGC-3. Specifically, the reported result
from sample EGC-3-3 for total petroleum hydrocarbons -(TPH). as diesel exceeds the San
Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board Environmental Screen Levels for direct
exposure (reported value is 579 milligrams per kilogram [mg/kg]; allowable limit is 150.
mg/kg) and the contamination remaining in the soil must be investigated for future uses of
the property for soil gas emissions to indoor air. I
The EHD recommends resampling the. area of concern, and/or.modeling the site to evaluate
the risk presented by the remaining contamination in soil. In addition, the monitoring well f
location may not be downgradient from the residual contamination, and.the grab groundwater j
sample from ECG-2 had 11173°micrograms per liter TPH diesel. Therefore, collection of a
confirmation water sample is. recommended. Please prepare a work plan for further
investigation of the site and submit it to the EHD no later than June 27, 2008.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
