Advancement of three soil borings by hollow stem auger to investigate the vertical and lateral extent of the
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination resulting from a former underground storage tank(UST).
2. The borings will extend to groundwater;soil and grab groundwater samples for analysis will be collected.
3. If obvious contamination is detected, the borings will be converted to groundwater monitoring wells.
4. A site specific health and safety plan will be submitted to SJC/EHD prior to initiation of fieldwork.
COMMENTS AND CONDITIONS:
1. The work plan states that monitoring wells will be installed if obvious groundwater contamination is present. The
proposed depth of the borings is approximately 60 feet, the current estimated depth to groundwater. SJC/EHD
recommends that if there is apparent soil contamination at this depth the borings should be extended and ground-
water monitoring wells should be installed.
2. SJC/EHD recommends that if site conditions indicate monitoring wells be installed, grab groundwater samples
are not necessary.
3. Please proceed with submittal of a SJC/EHD well permit application and all applicable fees, and with scheduling
the approved work. All fieldwork should be completed within 8 weeks of the date of this letter.
4. A report of findings must be submitted to SJC/EHD within 60 days following completion of all fieldwork.
5. Forty-eight hours notification to SJC/EHD is required prior to all site fieldwork.
Lat."
Lori Duncan,Senior REHS Nuel C.Henderson,Jr.,PG
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IN?
cc: James Barton,PG,CVRWQCB
Eyrene Fisher,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
