' Work Plan—Soil Boring Installation Page 3
461 Powers,Manteca
' Project 408
May 9, 2003
' All sampling equipment will be thoroughly steam cleaned before and between uses. No soil
cuttings will be generated during the Geo-Probe drilling process.
' It is not anticipated that soil samples will be submitted for laboratory analysis unless evidence
of petroleum contamination is observed in the samples. This work will be completed in
' accordance with applicable standards and guidelines.
2.1.3 Groundwater Sample Collection & Analysis
All groundwater samples will be collected from S13-1 and S13-2 using the Geo-Probe's
groundwater sampling device. This consists of a four-foot long hollow rod fitted with a drive
point, which is attached to the end of the Geo-Probe stem. This rod is driven four feet into
' groundwater and retracted to expose the stainless steel screen inside of the device.
Groundwater samples will be obtained by oscillating a clean dedicated section of Teflon
' tubing inserted inside of the hollow stem of the Geo-Probe. This causes groundwater to rise
to the surface. Samples will be collected in 1-liter amber glass bottles and 40-mm VOA
vials. Each sample container will then be labeled and placed into an ice chest chilled to 4°C
to await transport to the laboratory under chain of custody protocol.
It is anticipated that one groundwater sample from S13-1 and S13-2 will be submitted for
' analysis and tested for Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TEPH). The
method detection limit (MDL) for this test is 50 mg/L.
' 3.0 REPORTING
' The information gathered during this phase of work will be presented as a brief report, which
will include a description of the field work, results of sample analyses (including laboratory
data sheets), and their implications. The report will be prepared and signed by a registered
' geologist responsible for the work.
t2937 Veneman Avenue, Suite B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
