Taber
. Quincy Engineering, Inc. Since 1954
November 26, 2003
1 P2/399/245-4
Proposed construction also includes about 760±I.m. of new soundwall at the
following locations.
Soundwall Location
. No. 1 20±m it, Sta. 298 +50 ("RTE 99" Line) to
56.8fm rt, Sta. 302+24.2 ("NB OFF" Line)
19tm It, Sta 303+60 ("SB OFF" Line) to
No. 2 21fm It, Sta. 307+20 ("RTE 99" Line)
Both soundwalls are expected to be supported on cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) pile
foundations. Soundwall No. 1 piles are expected to be 356 mm diameter with tips at
.. about at depths from 3.1 to 3.4 m below profile grade. Soundwail No. 2 piles are
expected to be 400 mm and 450 mm diameter with tips at about 2.8 to 3.2 m below
profile grade.
2.2 PRIOR WORK
It is our understanding the need for ADL evaluation was established by an ISA
performed for the project. We have no information indicating the existence of other
.. possible hazardous materials pertaining the project site.
Taber Consultants prepared a "Roadway Geotechnical Report" for the project
dated May 29, 2003.
2.3 GEOLOGY
The site is shown on published geologic mapping (CDMG "Geologic Map of the
►.. San Francisco-San Jose Quadrangle", scale 1:250,000, 1990) to be underlain by
Holocene age dune and eolian sand and, at depth, by Pleistocene age Modesto
Formation materials consisting of sand, silt and gravel. Subsurface exploration for
Taber Consultants geotechnical report encountered materials consistent with the
published mapping. Two general soils units are identified and considered significant to
- proposed ramp/embankment improvements and soundwalls. The first unit consists of
existing fill materials that were placed during original construction, described primarily
as silty sand, sandy gravel and sand. The second unit consists of underlying native soils
consisting predominately of sand and silty sand/sandy silt with layers of clayey silt/silty
clay.
2
