i
1
Taber
Inc.Quincy Engineering, Since V54
November 26, 2003
1 P2/399/245-4
2.3 GROUNDWATER
Taber Consultants May 29, 2003 report indicates groundwater was encountered
. in 10 of 16 borings with a shallowest reported groundwater depth of 6.9 m (elev. 7.01
m). Based on this data, groundwater is not expected to be encountered during ADL
sampling.
2.2 RIGHTS-OF-ENTRY
All sampling will be performed within Caltrans right of way. Quincy Engineering,
Inc. has applied for a Caltrans encroachment permit specifically including the sampling
work described herein. Sampling will not be performed until the permit has been
granted. A copy of the permit will be in the possession of Taber personnel while on the
project site.
2.3 PRIOR WORK
We have no information indicating the existence of other possible hazardous
materials pertaining the project site.
Taber Consultants prepared a "Roadway Geotechnical Report" for the project
dated May 29, 2003.
3.0 SOIL SAMPLING PLAN
The purpose of the proposed work is to evaluate lead concentrations within soil
expected to be excavated during project construction and to estimate classification of
the soil with respect to State and Federal hazardous waste criteria.
Sampling and testing for aerially deposited lead (ADL) will be limited to unpaved
` areas of the interchange portion of the project, including the Highway 120 median and
Highway 99 median, shoulders and ramps. Areas of existing pavement do not require
.• testing.
Based on discussions with Quincy Engineering and Caltrans, construction on
SR 120 east and west of the interchange ramps will be limited to areas of existing
pavement except along the south shoulder at about Sta. 25+50 to Sta. 27+00 where a
- previous, nearby ADL assessment is understood to provide sufficient assessment. As
such, project areas beyond the interchange ramps are excluded from the area of study.
3
