Quincy Engineering, Inc. TaberSince 1954
November 26, 2003
1 P2/399/245-4
It is our understanding that Caltrans District 10 does not accept on-site use of
lead contaminated soil (per DTSC variance). Proposed analytical testing will therefore
Lbe directed to evaluating if offsite disposal is necessary.
L
Based on the anticipated staging of the proposed construction, we estimate 193
sample locations and a total of 519 samples, as described below. Approximate locations
are shown on copies of plan sheets L-1 through L-5 (attached) by darkened circles for
Lsamples along sound wall alignments and circles with a dot at the center for other
samples.
L1. Sound Wall #1: 20 locations along the wall alignment. Samples from depth
intervals of 0.0-0.15 m, 0.30-0.46 m, 1.0-1.15 m and about 3.05 - 3.20 m.
2. Sound Wall #2: 20 locations along the wall alignment. Samples from depth
intervals of 0.0-0.15 m, 0.30-0.46 m, 1.0-1.15 m and about 3.05-3.20 m.
L3. SR 99 Median: 20 locations, generally located away from the edge of pavement
about 1/4 of the median width, alternating sides of the median. Samples from depth
Lintervals of 0.0-0.15 m and 0.30-0.46 m.
4. South Bound Structure: 10 locations in each drainage basin (2) sampled at depth
Lintervals of 0.0-0.15 m, 0.30-0.46 m, and 0.61-0.76 m.
5. North Bound Structure: 10 locations in each drainage basin (3) sampled at depth
Lintervals of 0.0-0.15 m, 0.30-0.46 m, and 0.61-0.76 m.
6. South Bound Ramps: 20 Stations, 2 locations at each station sampled at depth
intervals of 0.0-0.15 m and 0.30-0.46 m. Width of proposed earthwork ranges from
L about 2 m - 8 m. At each station, samples will be collected at lateral distances from
the edge of pavement approximately equal to 1/5 and 4/5 the total width of
proposed earthwork (cut and/or fill).
7. North Bound Ramps: 20 Stations, 2 locations at each station sampled at depth
Lintervals of 0.0-0.5 m and 0.30-0.46 m. Width of proposed earthwork ranges from
about 2 m - 8 m. At each station, samples will be collected at lateral distances from
Lthe edge of pavement approximately equal to 1/5 and 4/5 the total width of
proposed earthwork (cut and/or fill).
8. SR 1.20 Median (bent pile cap excavation): 3 locations sampled at depth intervals of
0.0-0.15 m, 0.30-0.46 m, and 0.61-0.76 m. Sample locations will be approximately
Lequally spaced along the unpaved portion of the median. Limits of the unpaved
4
L
