sow
Residential Property UIC-Septic page 2
519 N. Patton Ave, Stockton
EHD recommends that you have the contents of the septic tank pumped out immediately
and temporarily stored onsite until characterization for disposal is complete. The septic
tank should be decontaminated and the rinse water from this process added to the
liquids previously removed from the tank. EHD is to be notified when the septic tank is
empty and clean. An inspection by EHD of the septic tank is required to verify if cracks
or damage to the tank are present. If the septic tank is free of damage and cracks, it
may be used when the extent of the chemical migration is determined and evaluated by
EHD. Damage to the tank may require repairs by a qualified professional or
replacement before the system can be used again.
EHD has been advised that facilities which accept the types of hazardous (chemical)
wastes detected in your septic tank typically will not accept the biological waste from a
residential wastewater disposal system. Disinfection or removal of the biological waste
is required before the hazardous chemical waste can be sent to a treatment facility.
EHD and some local environmental consulting firms have information on the processes
used to treat the biological wastes so you can have the remaining chemical hazardous
waste hauled off. You may contact Mr. Infurna if your environmental consultant would
like to discuss these options.
Once the biological waste has been adequately treated, the hazardous chemical waste
is to be handled and properly transported by a California licensed Hazardous Waste
contractor. A copy of the hazardous materials transport manifest must be submitted to
the EHD after the treatment facility has accepted and signed for the waste.
Enclosed is a Master File Record (MFR) form. Please complete and sign the form and
return it to the EHD with the prepayment of$279 required to begin the UIC program
oversight. An account will be set up and credited with three hours of time. The EHD
generates monthly billing to the billing party identified on the MFR for time associated
with the site in excess of the three-hour credit.
The EHD will review the work plan as soon as it is submitted. You will be notified in a
comment letter if it meets the requirements of the investigation.
If you have any questions you may contact Michael Infurna at (209)468-3454.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
cTGr.
Michael Infurna, Senior REHS curie Cotu la, REHS
UEC-Site Mitigation Unit IV Program Manager
Mil
attachment
c: EHD Unit V—Alan Biedermann
c: AGE--Chris Miller, 837 Shaw Rd, Stockton.
