. z
kJ tiJ
24 February 2004
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1091
Page 2 of 4
3.2. INSPECTION OF SEPTIC TANK
Once septic tank is emptied and cleaned SJCEHD will be notified. The septic tank will then be
inspected by SJCEHD to determine if the septic tank is impervious and can be placed back in
service.
3.3. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
A site assessment boring permit will be obtained from the SJCEHD for all on-site boring locations.
In addition, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and
Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985).
3.4. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance fifteen soil borings utilizing GeoProbe "direct-push" techniques: one
boring will be advanced angling beneath the septic tank, and one boring will be located under the
distribution box (D-Box). The leach line borings will be located directly below the leach Iine
trenches at 20 foot intervals along the entire length of each trench and at each 90 degree connection.
Each boring will be advanced to approximately 4 feet below surface grade into native soil directly
underneath each sampling area. If groundwater is encountered a water sample will be collected and
analyzed. The proposed boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2. The proposed boring locations
may be modified due to exact location of septic system, and requests of SJC EHD.
Soil samples and water sample if collected; will be submitted for laboratory analysis. The samples
will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)certified laboratory
for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as oil and grease (TPH-o&g) in accordance with
EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons(TRPH)in accordance with EPA Method 4IS.1,
carbon chain C-6 through C-40;
• Full scan 8260b, reporting all peaks; and
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
