No. 06498-002-001 <br /> SUBJECT: Advisory: Review and Evaluation of Report by Environmental Audit, Inc., <br /> Entitled Phase IV Subsurface Investigation, Montgomery Ward Auto Service <br /> Center, 5400 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California, dated August 20, 1992 <br /> Dear Mr. Wittmayer, <br /> On behalf of Stone Brothers and pursuant to your request per your letter of September 8, 1992, <br /> ROY F. WESTON, INC. (WESTON) has reviewed the above referenced report which describes <br /> the investigation methodology and results of the most recent environmental assessment activities <br /> performed by Environmental Audit, Inc. (EAI) at the Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center <br /> in Stockton. <br /> WESTON has been retained periodically by Stone Brothers to advise on technical and regulatory <br /> issues relating to this site which is owned by Stone Brothers. Montgomery Ward operates the <br /> Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center on the property and has retained EAI to conduct the site <br /> investigation relating to the previous underground storage tank removal. <br /> The objectives of WESTON's review were as follows: <br /> 1. Advise Stone Brothers of the implications of the report; <br /> 2. Advise Stone Brothers of a course of action in response to the findings of the report. <br /> REPORT SUMMARY <br /> The EAI report describes soil sampling activities and presents analytical results of a Phase IV <br /> subsurface investigation which was performed on July 1, 1992. The report also presents a <br /> discussion and interpretation of analytical results and conclusions based on the findings. <br /> The Phase IV investigation consisted of drilling four borings on the site and sampling the soil <br /> at specific depths in the borings.
