Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Re: Montgomery Ward
5400 Pacific Avenue
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Carl:
By letter dated July 13, 1988, I transmitted a
subsurface investigation report on the above-referenced property
prepared by Dr. Alan D. Selditch, P.E. , dated June 20, 1988 .
That report concludes that no further subsurface investigation or
remediation is required for the site.
Subsequent to my submission of the subsurface
investigation report, I received an Underground Storage Tank
Unauthorized Release (Leak)/Contamination Site Report signed by
Diane M. Hinson. Under the Comment section of the report, Ms.
Hinson states that further site assessment will be required to
determine the nature and extent of contamination as required by
the appropriate regulatory agency. I have attempted to reach Ms.
IIinson by telephone without success.
The subsurface investigation report indicates that five
borings were advanced in the area where the underground storage
tanks were formerly located. Soil samples were collected at five
foot intervals. Ground water was not encountered. Four
individual soil samples and three composite samples were
submitted to Scientific Environmental Laboratories, Inc. for
analysis pursuant to EPA Methods 8015 (total petroleum
hydrocarbons) and 7420 (total lead) . The laboratory analysis
showed no significant levels of petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination.
