Box 1930
D` Stockton, CA 95201
FORMER UNOCAL SITE AT 5606 PACIFIC AVENUE, STOCKTON
This letter is to confirm our recent telephone conversation and confirms that
the soil contamination at the subject site has been adequately cleaned up.
However, ground water contamination remains and work to complete the
definition of the plume and cleanup of the aquifer is still pending. We
realize that your client and property owner, Stone Brothers Inc. , would like
to begin construction of a new building on the site. With regards to this
matter, the Regional Board has no objections to building on the site as long
as any future remediation, including ground water cleanup is not impeded in
any way by the presence of the new building, its support facilities, or
tenants.
The Stone Brothers should be aware that because the extent of the ground water
contamination is not known, remedial actions necessary at the site have not
been determined. By building prior to knowing the extent of the ground water
contamination and potential cleanup facilities the possibility exists that
remediation measures may disrupt the future tenants use of the property,
including use of the proposed new building.
We hope this letter proves useful to you and your client. If you have any
questionsf please
call me at (916) 361-5670.
ANTOMA K. J.
