<br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS
<br /> 1.01 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
<br /> A. The work to be performed shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, transportation,
<br /> supplies, equipment, appurtenances,fuel, and power, unless specifically excepted, necessary or
<br /> required for the demolition of the irrigation water well and appurtenant piping and the demolition of
<br /> the test hole as shown on the plans and described in the specifications.
<br /> 1.02 INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
<br /> A. Companies supplying insurance shall be admitted to supply such instruments within the State of
<br /> California, shall be listed by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, and shall have a minimum
<br /> A.M. Best rating of A.
<br /> B. Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance-The Contractor shall take out and maintain
<br /> during the life of the project, Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance, in which the College
<br /> shall be named as an additional insured, which will protect the Contractor, and or all
<br /> Subcontractors, College and its agents or representatives, against any claims for personal injury,
<br /> including accidental death as well as from the operation of the Contractor,whether such operation
<br /> shall have been performed by the Contractor, any Subcontractor, or by anyone employed either
<br /> directly or indirectly by any of them.
<br /> The Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance shall be provided with the limits no less than
<br /> the following:
<br /> 1. Limit or Liability for injury or accidental death, $1,000,000 per occurrence.
<br /> 2. Limit or Liability for Property Damage, $1,000,000 per occurrence.
<br /> The Contractor shall furnish the College with satisfactory proof of the carrying of the required
<br /> insurance by submitting certifications or policies of insurance to the Engineer, prior to the
<br /> commencement of work under the Contract. Any work performed prior to the submission of such
<br /> certification or policies shall be considered as having been done by him at his own risk and as a
<br /> volunteer.
<br /> 1.03 PROGRESS OF WORK&TIME FOR COMPLETION
<br /> A. After the Work and Safety Plans been approved by the College, the Engineer will give the
<br /> Contractor written Notice to Proceed. The Contractor shall commence work within five(5)days
<br /> after the date of the written Notice to Proceed and shall diligently prosecute the work to
<br /> completion.
<br /> B. No work shall take place during the first two weeks of school, August 17 through September 4. If
<br /> possible, road closures and destruction of the well should take place after 1:00 PM to allow for
<br /> better traffic control.
<br /> 1.04 PRE-CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION
<br /> A. Prior to the commencement of work, a joint inspection between the Engineer, or his
<br /> representative, and the Contractor's superintendent will be conducted to review the pre-
<br /> construction conditions of the existing facilities in the vicinity of the project site. (e.g. roads,
<br /> pumps, discharge pipes,siphons, ramps,gates, helicopter pads, signs, etc.)
<br /> If such existing facilities are damaged by the Contractor's operations, the Contractor, at his
<br /> expense, shall replace or restore them to the condition that existed prior to the commencement of
<br /> work.
<br /> 1.05 SITE DATA
<br /> A. The approximate location of any utilities, irrigation pipes, etc., are shown on the plans for the
<br /> information of the Contractor.The College assumes no responsibility for the accuracy, reliability,
