Mr. James L. Barton
June 20, 2008
Page 4
background well may not exist. However, MW-10 most closely represents an appropriate background well.
As the microbial community changes in the hot wells by the influence of the AS/SVE system, the changes can
be compared to the background well. By selecting a hot well from both of the targeted zones, shallow and
deep, the differences in the microbial communities in each zone can also be compared to the background
well, since none too little change in the microbial community is expected in the background well. One well
from each impacted zone (MW-2 for the"B" zone and MW-8D for the"D" zone) will be representative for all
wells in that respective zone.
Performance Monitoring Reporting
After the remediation systems have operated for six months and the performance monitoring events have
been conducted, ENSR will provide the CVWB with a report documenting field activities, analytical reports,
and tabulated results from the performance monitoring events. The results of the performance monitoring will
be submitted 60 days after receipt of the last analytical report. Quarterly monitoring events for the Site, as
directed by the Cleanup and Abatement Order# 5-00-707, will continue to be conducted, independent of the
performance monitoring events. Following the initial six month operation and optimization of the upgraded
AS/SVE systems, the Performance Monitoring Plan as presented will cease and continued performance
monitoring will be based on the groundwater monitoring program and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution
Control District permit requirements.
If you have any questions regarding the Performance Monitoring Plan, please contact Ms. Jennifer Johnston at
(916) 362-7100.
Sincerely,
ENSR Corporation
JeJe ifen / Kent D.
