EIM®
1
Mr. James Barton
1 March 31, 2005
Page 4
1 documentation for chemical analysis. Development and decon rinsate water will be stored on
site in appropriately labeled 55-gallon DOT drums and will be disposed of at a State of
California and Unocal approved facility.
1 Well Development and Groundwater Sampling
1 The newly installed air sparge well will be developed a minimum of 72 hours after installation.
This will allow the neat cement grout seal time to cure. The well will be developed using a surge
1 block and submersible pump. Groundwater samples will be collected following development.
Groundwater samples will be submitted to a state-certified laboratory under chain-of-custody
protocol for analysis of TPHg using EPA Method 8015M, and BTEX, MTBE, 1,2 DCA, and EDB
1 by EPA Method 8260B.
1 Well Surveying
A state-certified surveyor will survey the newly installed well. Survey data will include: northing,
1 easting, well-box elevation, well casing elevation, latitude, and longitude. Horizontal
coordinates by the global positioning system (GPS) will also be obtained by the surveyor.
1 Remediation System Monitoring
To correspond with the restart of the SVE system and the continuous operation of the AS
1 system, ENSR will perform quarterly site visits to monitor the extraction wells for vacuum, flow
rate, and concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons measured with a PID. Additionally, ENSR
will monitor the individual sparge wells on a quarterly basis for pressure and flow rate.
1 Permitting and Scheduling
1 Upon approval of this work plan, ENSR will submit permit applications for the installation of the
proposed well, encroachment into city right-of-way, and will provide appropriate permit fees to
1 the appropriate agencies. On behalf of Unocal, ENSR will also obtain right-of-entry agreements
with the appropriate property owners as required. Following approval of well permits,
encroachment permits and obtaining necessary right-of-entry agreements, the proposed scope
1 of work will be implemented.
1
1 J:\Projects\06940\5098-293\Working\Reports\5098 Work Plan 2AS wells.doc
1 Celebratino 35 Years of Excellence in Environmental Services
