ETHYLBENZENE <br /> CAS NO 100-41-4 DOT NO 1175 <br /> OSHA PEL 100 ppm UEL 76% <br /> ACGIH TLV 100 ppm LEL 08% <br /> OSHA STEL 125 ppm VP 7 mm <br /> NIOSH IDLH 800 ppm <br /> POTENTIAL DANGERS <br /> Ethylbenzene is a defatting agent and may cause dermatitis following prolonged exposure Concern is <br /> expressed about the kidneys and liver because the kidneys are the pnmary route of excretion of <br /> ethylbenzene, and ethylbenzene is metabolized by the liver Irritation of the eyes and mucus <br /> membranes, headaches, dermatitis, narcosis, and coma may result because of exposure to <br /> ethylbenzene <br /> Points of attack are the eyes, upper respiratory system, skin, and central nervous system <br /> ROUTES OF ENTRY <br /> Inhalation, ingestion, eye and skin contact <br /> FIRST AID <br /> If ethylbenzene gets into the eyes, immediately flush with water for 15 minutes If ethylbenzene <br /> contacts the skin, flush with water promptly If a person breathes in large amounts of ethylbenzene, <br /> move the exposed person to fresh air at once and perform artificial respiration, if needed When <br /> ethylbenzene has been swallowed, get medical attention DO NOT induce vomiting aspiration may <br /> cause chemical pneumonia <br />
