Corrective Action Plan
Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center, Stockton, CA
' 9.0 VERIFICATION SAMPLING
9.1 Vapor Sampling/Testing
' When the vapor concentration at a vapor extraction system wellhead {using a PID) is 100
parts per million vapor (ppmv) or less, that well will be disconnected from the system
After a period of one to two weeks, a wellhead vapor reading will again be obtained from
the well using a PID If vapors to excess of 100 ppmv are encountered, then the well will
be reconnected to the system This "pulsing" of the system will occur until 100 ppmv or
less is consistently present at the wellhead or a determination made that asymptotic levels
have been achieved which exceed 100 ppmv The above process will continue until the
' target vapor cleanup level of 100 ppmv has been achieved for all wells
9.2 Soil Sampling/Testing
1 Once PID readings at individual wellheads indicate that cleanup has been achieved and that
pulsing of the vapor extraction system is no longer necessary, soil borings will be drilled
and sampled to confirm cleanup objectives have been meet Soil samples will be tested for
' TPH-G by modified EPA Method 8015, and BTEX by EPA Method 8020 The number
and location of each boring will be determined at a later date, and a specific soil
confirmation cleanup work plan submitted to the County for review and approval
9.3 Ground Water Sampling/Testing
When ongoing monitoring indicates that contaminant concentrations in ground water have
decreased to the cleanup levels specified in Section 5 2, "rebound" effects will be tested by
turning off the air sparging system Once post remediation monitoring indicates that
cleanup objectives have been obtained, the system will be permanently deactivated
1
i
Project No 1232 - 30 -
SAB
30 -SAB WORD MXAP
