' FOURTH QUARTER 1998 GROUND WATER MONITORING REPORT San Joaquin County
Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center Publu,Health Services Department
' 5400 Pacific Avenue,Stockton,CA Site Code 2163
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1 This document constitutes the Fourth Quarter (October through December) 1998 ground water
monitoring report for the Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center property located at 5400
Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California (Montgomery Ward site) (see Figure 1) Environmental
Audit, Inc (EAI) was retained to complete the monitoring The quarterly ground water
monitoring and sampling is being conducted in accordance with a request from the San Joaquin
County Public Health Services Department (County) The County identifies the Site by Site
' Code 2163
As requested by the County, the gauging and sampling activities at the Montgomery Ward site
' were coordinated to occur at the same time as the gauging and sampling at the former Unocal
service station located at 5606 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California (Unocal site) (see Figure 1)
Historical high ground water levels at the Site have the current depth of first ground water over
' well screened intervals in all seven ground water monitoring wells at the Site Therefore, at the
request of the County, EAI gauged all the vapor extraction wells (VEW-IA, VEW-1B, VEW-2,
VEW-2B, and VEW-3 through VEW-5) and sampled four of the vapor extraction wells (Wells
' VEW-213, VFW-3, VEW-4 and VEW-5) at the Site since these wells were screened at the
ground water level The vapor extraction wells were constructed as part of proposed remedial
action for the Site to extract and treat hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon impacted soil The vapor
extraction wells have not been used for this purpose
2.0 FIELD INVESTIGATION
I
21 GROUND WATER ELEVATION SURVEY
' On December 22, 1998, prior to purging or sampling activities, depth measurements to fluid
levels were obtained by EAI from all monitoring wells (wells MW-1 through MW-7) and vapor
extraction wells dssociated with the Montgomery Ward site The depth measurements were
obtained using an interface probe accurate to 0 01 foot (see Figure 2 and Table 1)
Table 1 also contains well gauging information from wells (wells MW-10 through MW-17)
I associated with the Unocal site provided to EAI by Unocal's consultant Gettler-Ryan, Inc (see
Figure 2) No free-product was detected in any of the wells The water level measurement for
each well was converted to mean sea level (MSL) datum by subtracting the measured water level
for each well from its respective "top of well casing elevation" datum (see Table 1)
I Project No 1232 - 1 - ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT, INC
