Kennedy Jenks
Section 2: Monitoring Well Installation
2.1 Locations of Proposed Wells
As discussed above, the existing locations are considered suitable to evaluate groundwater
quality. The three replacement wells, MW-3R, MW-4R, and MW-5R, will be located within about
10 feet of the respective existing wells. The precise locations will be based on access and
locations of underground utilities. The proposed monitoring well locations are shown on
Figure 2.
2.2 Field Activities
The following groundwater monitoring field activities will be conducted at the Facility: drilling and
installing monitoring wells, developing and surveying the wells, and including collection of
groundwater samples in accordance with the existing MRP. These field activities are described
in the following sections.
2.2.1 Pre-Field Activities
Kennedy Jenks will perform the following pre-field activities prior to commencing fieldwork at the
Facility.
1. Prepare a site-specific Health and Safety Plan.
2. Obtain well installation permits from the San Joaquin County.
3. Survey the proposed boring locations for potential location conflicts with subsurface
utilities by performing a utility clearance check prior to drilling. The survey will be done
by contacting USA Alert for utility clearance two working days before the scheduled
fieldwork. In addition, a private subsurface utility locating service will perform a search
for underground utilities at the proposed drilling locations.
4. Contract with a C-57 licensed drilling contractor to perform field work.
5. Select a state-certified laboratory to conduct laboratory analytical services.
Following execution of the pre-field activities, Kennedy Jenks will oversee the licensed drilling
subcontractor to advance subsurface borings for the proposed monitoring wells at the Facility.
2.2.2 Installation and Development of Monitoring Wells
2.2.2.1 Drilling Borehole
The borehole will be drilled by a contractor licensed in California. The boring for the monitoring
well will be drilled using a hollow-stem auger drilling rig. In accordance with the Kennedy Jenks
Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG)for Boring and Subsurface Soil Sampling (attached as
Appendix B), the borehole diameter will be at least 4 inches larger than the proposed well
Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan, The Wine Group, Franzia Winery, Ripon, California Page 4
\\kjc.local\kjc-root\kj-offcelsfolprojects\is-proj1202612665002.00_twg ripon gw men well supportM-reportshwispltwg ripon men well install wp_020426.docx
