Based on the identification of the RECs it is
possible that historical activities have impacted the soil and groundwater beneath the site.
5.0 PROPOSED FIELD ACTIVITIES
WGR Southwest proposes this limited site assessment in order to evaluate the underlying soil
and groundwater conditions along the portion of the proposed east interstate railroad tracks
that cross the subject site. The location of the proposed railroad route has been provided to
WGR by the Port in a plan prepared by Britton Consulting. The approximate location of the
route is indicated on Figure 2.
To achieve this objective, WGR plans to advance five direct-push soil borings in the vicinity
of the proposed railroad route. The proposed borings are labeled SB-1 through SB-5, and
their approximate locations are shown on Figure 2. Three soil samples will be collected from
each of the five borings, and groundwater grab samples will be recovered from two of the
borings. The work will be performed under the supervision of a California Professional
Geologist.
5.1 Health and Safety Plan
A site specific Health and Safety Plan detailing known or potential hazards and emergency
response procedures will be present on site and a "tailgate" safety meeting will be conducted
prior to starting field activities. The plan will be maintained on-site throughout the duration of
field activities.
5.2 Permitting
The borings will be permitted with the SJCEHD. A Master File Record Information Form will
also be filed with the SJCEHD. All proposed locations will be pre-approved by the Port's
maintenance department.
704.
