The well was removed from the monitoring network required under California
Regional Water Quality Control Board Order No. R5-208-0154, and is no longer needed On behalf of the
City of Stockton MUD, Condor requests approval of this Work Plan for the proper destruction of MW4.
The well was installed by PC Exploration, Inc. (C57 #885630) of Lincoln, California. The well was
installed to a total depth of 15 feet below ground surface (bgs) with 10 feet of 0.010-inch slotted screen.
Monitoring well MW4 is located between the recirculation canal, containing effluent, and the groundwater
interceptor ditch, which captures groundwater and pumps it back to the treatment facility. MW4 is prone
to surface water infiltration and/or stormwater infiltration due to a shallow and thin surface seal.
Consequently, the groundwater samples collected from MW4 are not representative of actual groundwater
conditions.
Monitoring Well Destruction
The boring for monitoring well MW4 was drilled using continuous-flight hollow-stem auger. The well was
constructed with 4-inch schedule 40 PVC piping to a depth of approximately 15-feet bgs. MW4 was
screened with 0.010 machine-slotted PVC from approximately 4.5 to 14.5-feet bgs.
Condor will submit a well destruction permit application to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (SJCEHD) and will receive the permit prior to initiating fieldwork. A health and safety plan
will be reviewed by all on-site personnel prior to initiating fieldwork. The site will be marked for
Underground Service Alert (USA) at least 72 hours prior to fieldwork commencement. The project site
boundaries will be physically marked so that USA representatives will he able to clear the proposed boring
locations for public utilities.
