Work Plan—Soil Boring Installation Page 3
3291 S.Hwy 99
Project 472.2
July 16, 2007
2.0 PROPOSED INVESTIGATION
Prior to commencing fieldwork, the required County drilling permit will be
obtained.
2.1 Field Work
The field work associated with this work plan will consist of mobilizing to the
site with a Geo-Probe drilling rig and advancing three soil borings at designated
locations for the purpose of obtaining soil.and groundwater samples.
2.1.1 Geo-Probe Soil Borings
The Geo-Probe soil borings will be advanced to a depth of about 25 feet, which is
above the groundwater surface, which is estimated to lie at about 70 feet. The
borings, designated S13-1 and SB-2 will be located near either end of the
rectangular leach field.
Soil samples will be collected continuously from each boring.
The Geo-Probe soil borings will be drilled using 2-inch outside diameter, dual
tube, Geo-Probe drilling equipment owned and operated by RSI Drilling of
Woodland, CA, a C-57 Licensed drilling contractor (C-57 No. 802334). Upon
reaching total depth in each boring and collecting a final soil, the boring will be
filled to grade with neat cement.
The Geo-Probe is a truck mounted drilling system that uses direct push
methodology to collect soil and groundwater samples. Four foot long by 1.5-inch
diameter stainless steel rods are pushed or hammered into the ground using a
hydraulic ram or the hydraulically, actuated hammer mounted on the ram. Soil
samples are collected using a 4-foot long by 1.5 inch inside diameter drive
sampler lined with a plastic sample sleeve.
2.1.2 Geology
A detailed log will be made of each boring. The information to be noted include
such data as sample depths, soil / sediment type and description (color, texture,
composition, hardness, moisture content, and post-depositional changes that
have occurred in the sediments), and horizons of detectable contamination
(detected by field methods).
2.2 Soil Sampling and Analyses
The soil sample collection procedure will be as follows. Upon retrieval, as
described above, the soil samples will be described and logged. The ends of each
plastic sample tube removed from the coring device and possibly submitted for
2937 Veneman Avenue, Suite B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
