W GIK
• Southwest, Inc.
documentation at the end of each field day. Following groundwater sample collection, each of
the borings was backfilled with Portland cement grout from total depth to the ground surface.
8.4 Disposition of Drill Cuttings and Waste Water
The soil cuttings and waste water generated during drilling operations were temporarily stored
on site in two 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT) approved drums pending
profiling of the contained materials. The drums were labeled with the generation dates and
other appropriate information. They were transported off site on June 24, 2008 for disposal by
Advanced Chemical Transport of Sunnyvale, California.
9.0 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ANALYSIS
All of the groundwater and soil samples were submitted to McCampbell Analytical, Inc. in
Pittsburg, California. They underwent analyses for: Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) —
multi-range organics (including gasoline, diesel and motor oil) by EPA Method 8015M;
VOCs, including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), and oxygenates,
including MTBE, by EPA Method 826013; Semi Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs) by
EPA Method 8270; and for PCBs by EPA Method 8082. Soil samples were analyzed for
• metals by CAM17 Total Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC) Group Analysis by EPA
Method 6020A. Groundwater samples B-8 through B-18, collected on May 15 and 16, were
analyzed for dissolved CAM17 metals, as requested by WGR. Due to a lab oversight,
groundwater samples B-1 through B-7, collected on May 14, were not filtered and were
analyzed for total CAM17 metals. The soil boring samples from one foot and three foot bgs
were also analyzed for oil and grease (O&G)by EPA Method 5520.
10.0 ANALYTICAL RESULTS
10.1 Soil Analytical Results
The results of laboratory analysis of the soil samples recovered from the backhoe excavations
on May 8, 2008 and the borings on May 14, 15 and 16, 2008 are summarized in Table 1. The
laboratory analytical reports for the soil samples are included as Appendix B. The applicable
Preliminary Remediation Goals (PRGs) set by the EPA for industrial soil and the Total
Threshold Limit Concentrations (TTLCs) for California, which are the regulatory limits for
classification of soil as hazardous waste, are listed in the right column of Table 1. However,
all environmental sites are evaluated by the governing regulatory agency on a site-specific
basis, and the PRG and TTLC values are included as a general guideline to assist with data
• interpretation, not necessarily as action levels for this site. Since PRG or TTLC values are not
704. PRI.05 20 July 21, 2008
