sir+
HOLGLIN, FAHAN Mr. Michael J. Infurna
&ASSOCIATES INC. SJ C E H D
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS August 17, 2009 - Page 2 f
present an unacceptable safety and environmental risk. As such, pressure grouting is
recommended for abandonment of well MW-10.
•
MW-11D: this well is installed inside a 10-inch-diameter steel conductor casing. Records
indicate that this conductor casing extends to 70 feet below grade (fbg). Overdrilling would
present a risk of damaging the integrity of the annular seal surrounding the outside of the
conductor casing and removing the conductor casing presents an unacceptable safety risk.
As such, pressure grouting is recommended for abandonment of well MW-1 1 D.
HFA hereby requests a modification to the existing well destruction permit for the Site (permit
#057985) to authorize abandonment of the above-referenced wells by pressure grouting. All
other wells covered by the revised permit-will be abandoned by overdrilling.
Holguin, Fahan & Associates, Inc. trusts that this work plan addendum meets the requirements of
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. If you have any questions or require f
additional information, please contact Mr. Eli Scott at (805) 641-4091 or Eli_Scott@hfa.com.
Respectfully submitted,
L I
f
Elias W.
