The Site is located
at 1022 East Frontage Road (AKA 22502 S. Hwy 99) in Ripon, adjacent to and east of US
Highway 99 (Attachment 1). Fueling operations at the Site (Attachment 2) began in the 1960's.
Olympian JV purchased the Site from the Mark VI Corporation in 1982. Olympian JV, the
primary responsible party (RP) conducting the investigations, was the owner/operator at the
time of the two releases, and currently owns the property. AAA Truck Wash, LLC is the current
operator.
Three soil borings (1314 through B16) were advanced at the Site for the adjacent Ripon Farm
Service (RFS) investigation in October 1996. See RFS results in the soil table below. In
June 1998, six fuel dispenser islands and associated piping were removed and replaced.
Confirmation (dispensers) soil sampling results indicated a release had occurred. Maximum
concentrations were total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd), 13,000 milligrams per
kilogram (mg/kg), TPH as gasoline (TPHg), 5,100 mg/kg, and benzene, 0.19 mg/kg.
In September 1998, one 7,500-gallon gasoline, one 10,000-gallon gasoline, and one
12,000-gallon diesel underground storage tanks (USTs) and two additional dispensers and
associated piping were removed. The replacement gasoline USTs were moved to a different
location (east of dispenser islands), and the diesel fuel was piped to the new dispensers from
four 30,000-gallon above ground storage tanks (AGSTs) located along the southern boundary of
the Site. Confirmation (USTs) soil sampling results also indicated a release had occurred and
reported maximum concentrations of TPHd, 12,000 mg/kg; TPHg, 1,500 mg/kg; and benzene,
2.3 mg/kg. Approximately 1,180 tons of hydrocarbon-impacted soil was over-excavated and
transported to Forward Landfill in Manteca.
KARL E. —ONGLEY SCD, P.E.. CHAIR I PAMELA C. CREEDON P.E..
