A
private utility locator will also be retained to clear the proposed drilling locations of any unmarked
utilities.
V_
5.2 Well Installation
Cambria proposes to install one groundwater monitoring well at the locations shown on Figure 4. The
well location will be manually cleared using a hand auger and/or post hole digger to approximately 5
feet bgs. The well pilot borings will be drilled using a hollow stem auger drill rig equipped with
continuous flight augers. During drilling, undisturbed soil samples will be collected at approximate 5 Nay Qw
foot intervals with a California-modified split-spoon sampler lined with brass tubes. The soils will be ,L
visually examined and classified in a general accordance with Unified Soil Classification System
(USCS). The on-site geologist will record information including lithology, headspace readings, blow
counts, and depths on the boring log forms.
5.2.1 Well Construction
The anticipated target depth for the groundwater monitoring well will be 35 ft bgs. The pilot boring
will be drilled using 8-inch diameter augers and the well will be constructed of 2-inch diameter
Schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride(PVC)casing and 0.01-inch factory slotted PVC screen. The screened
interval is anticipated to extend fo 15to 35 felt bgs. The annular space around the well screen will
be backfilled with 2/12 sand by placing the sand through the augers as they are removed from the f
boring. The well will then be surged to settle the sandpack prior to sealing the annular space. ;
Additional sand will be added as needed to ensure the sandpack extends to at least 1 foot above the U
7
