Highway 99)
Ripon, California
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed analytical
data collected for four consecutive quarters from monitoring well MW-10 installed
August 15, 2005. The data were submitted by Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc.
(Cambria) on your behalf. High concentrations of methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE)
have consistently been detected in groundwater samples collected from MW-10. Also
soil lithology collected during the installation of MW-10 demonstrates permeable layers
at total well depth of 35 feet below surface grade (bsg). Considering groundwater flow
direction tends toward the west/northwest, and a City of Ripon groundwater supply well
is located approximately 750 feet west of this site, you are directed to submit a work plan
to EHD by July 27, 2006, that will investigate the MTBE plume west of this site.
By letter dated January 26, 2006, EHD stated that groundwater does not appear to be
delineated vertically. This decision was based on groundwater analytical results showing
high concentrations for diesel, motor oil, and gasoline constituents in the groundwater
samples collected at 60 feet from soil boring B-18. Please submit a work plan to EHD by
July 27, 2006,that will address the vertical extent of contamination at this site.
Analytical data submitted by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) for groundwater
samples collected from monitoring well MW-6, located on your site, have consistently
demonstrated high concentrations of gasoline and diesel. You are directed to submit a
work plan to EHD by July 27, 2006, that will investigate vertical and lateral extents of
contamination near MW-6.
By letter dated January 26, 2006, EHD stated that information submitted for soil borings
B-14, B-15, and B-16, collected in October 1996 was incorrect. Brandon Wilken,P.G. at
Cambria has since informed EHD that instead of using the analytical data for soil borings
B-14, B-15, and B-16 collected by AGE (and analyzed by McCambell Analytical. Inc.),
Cambria submitted confirmation sample results collected by Accutite Environmental
