06 November 2002
AGE-NC Project No 98-0432
' 2 2 WELL COMPLETION
Boring EW-1 was single-completed as a ground water extraction well utilizing schedule 40, 6-inch
' diameter blank polyvinylchloride (PVC) well casing and perforated, 6-inch diameter PVC well
casing (0 020-inch slot) Boring MW-9 was single-completed as a ground water monitoring well
utilizing schedule 40, 2-inch diameter blank polyvinylchloride (PVC) well casing and perforated,
' 2-Inch diameter PVC well casing (0 020-inch slot)
The wells was Installed by placing the PVC well casing assembly through the hollow stem of the
' augers to the total depth of the boring The augers were Incrementally raised as filter pack material
consisting of a#3 Monterey Sand was slowly poured down the annulus between the well casing and
the Inner wall of the hollow stem auger The filter pack was placed adjacent to the screened casing
' from the bottom of the boring to a point approximately two feet above the top of the screen
Following filter pack placement, a surge block was Inserted Into the well casing and was alternately
' raised and lowered(surged)repeatedly for approximately 20 minutes to settle the filter pack material
A nominal three-foot seal of bentonite pellets was placed above the filter pack and allowed to
hydrate with clean tap water The remaining annular space was backfilled with portland cement As-
built well-construction diagrams are Included In Appendix A
' 3.0. GROUND WATER AQUIFER PUMPING TEST
' On 12 to 14 June 2002, a 48-hour ground water extraction pilot test was performed at the site to
assess the general groundwater aquifer characteristics and to assess aquifer response to ground water
extraction at a constant pumping rate utilizing wells EW-1 and MWA through MW-9 Well EW-1
I was screened from 16 to 36 feet below surface grade (bsg), the other wells were screened from
approximately 15 to 30 feet bsg
' The extracted ground water was containerized In two on-site 4,000-gallon poly tanks
I3 1 EXTRACTION PILOT TEST
The static pumping test consisted of extracting ground water from well EW-1 utilizing a 4-inch
' diameter submersible Grundfos Redl-flo pump, the constant pumping rate for the test was set at
6 gpm,monitored by an In-line,direct measuring device(Blue-White model F-400 flow rotometer)
Approximately 12,400 gallons of water were removed from EW-1 during the 48-hour constant rate
drawdown test
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc
y
