C-SHADIRFS92.4/wPADD 1.19
07/21/92
dieldrin were detected in all but CHLOR 1 (Table 3-1). The highest levels of
DDE (21.4 µg/g) and DDT (104 pg/g) were found at CHLOR 1; smaller
quantities of DDE were also measured at CHLOR 2 and 5, and smaller quantities
of DDT at all but CHLOR 4. No other pesticides were found in any of the
samples.
Twenty additional soil samples (CHLOR 6 through CHLOR 25, plus a duplicate)
were subsequently collected, also part of the most recent investigation, at the
pesticide mix area. CHLOR 6 through 11 were collected along the length of the
drainage ditch, and CHLOR 12 through 25 were collected in the area north of
Bldg. T-40 and east of Bldg. T-9. CHLOR 9, 11, and 13 were collected from
depths of 1 to 1.5 ft; all of the other samples were collected at the surface (0 to
0.5 ft). All of the samples were analyzed for organochlorine pesticides. All but
one sample contained low levels of chlordane (maximum 2.70 µg/g at CHLOR 8)
(Table 3-1). DDD was detected in all but five of the samples at a maximum
concentration of 4.61 µg/g at CHLOR 16, DDE in all but six samples at a
maximum concentratiog of 31.5 µg/g at CHLOR 16, and DDT in all but two
samples at a maximum concentration of 181 µg/g at CHLOR 16. None of the 20
samples contained measurable quantities of dieldrin.
I
