d. Sampling Method
Methods to obtain a representative sample are followed in accordance with
Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste, Physical/Chemical Methods, SW-846,
2nd Edition, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1986.
e. Frequency with which the waste analysis will be repeated or reviewed
for accuracy and timeliness.
The analytical laboratory has been instructed to notify Sharpe
immediately if the concentration of anticipation constituents varies in
excess of 100 percent of previous values. In addition and more importantly,
if changes in chemical character are observed including new chemicals, Sharpe
is again notified immediately to determine what has caused the event. In
each of these situations additional rounds of sampling are performed to
identify and characterize the current hazardous waste composition. Waste
streams will be analyzed on at least an annual basis.
f. Methods to be used for ensuring compatibility of wastes with handling
methods.
The methods used to protect human health and, the environment are
contained in Annex N, Sharpe Operating Procedures relative to chemical and
hazardous waste activities. Specifically, Annex B contains:
Installation, Removal , and Disposal of Materials Containing Asbestos
• (Operating Procedure No. EO-4) ,
Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) (See Annex M) ,
Procedure for the Handling of Pesticides (Operating Procedure
No. EO-8) ,
Safety Precautions and Disposition of Contaminated Fuel , Waste Oil
and Solvents (Operating Procedure DOL No. 35) , and
Using and Handling Carcinogens and Oncogens (Operating Procedure No.
EO-9) .
2. For Off-Site Facilities
Sharpe does not have any off-site facilities at this time; therefore,
this subsection is not applicable.
3. Methods to Ensure that the Waste Analysis Plan Will be Kept Up to Date
To ensure that the Waste Analysis Plan is current with respect to
changing conditions and waste streams at Sharpe in addition to changing
technologies and regulations, it will be evaluated and updated annually. ,
V-15
•
r, .
