1.3 Objectives and Scope of Work The objectives of this investigation were to additionally evaluate soil conditions at the site for the presence of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-Diesel Range Organics (TPH-DRO), total volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Organochlorine Pesticides(OCPs), and RCRA 8 Metals(arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, selenium, silver,and mercury). The scope of work included: Obtaining appropriate permits from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (Permit Nos.: 0068840,0068841,0068842,0068844),which are included in Appendix C; • Advancing 10 subsurface borings to depths of up to 24 feet below ground surface(bgs); • Collecting up to two soil samples per boring; • Collecting a groundwater sample from seven of the ten borings advanced; • Analyzing certain soil and groundwater samples for TPH-DRO, VOCs, OCPs, and/or RCRA-8 Metals;and • Preparing a summary report of activities and analytical results. Sampling locations were determined based on review of historical information from the Phase I ESA, surface features, estimated groundwater gradient, adjoining property uses, underground and overhead utilities,vegetation,as well as equipment accessibility issues. A generalized layout of the site and soil boring locations are shown in Figure 3 and described below: • Boring B-1: Located centrally along the northern elevation of the warehouse building located at 229 Oak Street in an inferred up-gradient position of the historical and current uses of the property; • Boring B-2: Near the southwestern comer of the warehouse building at 251 Oak Street within the area of a former aboveground storage tank; • Boring B-3: Within the vacant lot at the southwestern corner of the intersection of Oak Street and Park Avenue in a down-gradient position of the historic and current uses of the subject property; • Boring B-4: Located within the materials storage yard on the eastern side of the warehouse building at 270 Oak Street; • Boring B-5: Within the southeastern portion of the warehouse at 251 Oak Street adjacent to the former use of the aboveground storage tank and areas formerly used for seed treatment; • Boring B-6: In the central portion of the warehouse at 251 Oak Street within areas formerly used as a cannery and performed seed treatment; • Boring B-7: Within the western portion of the warehouse at 270 Oak Street within areas for auto repair; • Boring B-8: Located in the northwestern portion of the warehouse at 251 Oak Street within areas formerly containing trench drains; • Boring B-9: Within the northwestern portion of the warehouse at 251 Oak Street within areas formerly containing trench drains; and • Boring B-10: Located in the northwestern portion of the warehouse at 251 Oak Street within areas formerly containing trench drains.
